Since 2014 I have had a few back issues resulting from surfing. Spending most days in the water, the position my body is in with my back arched, there is no way to avoid it. I would have days were my back was so sore, I had to alternate my training sessions or limit my surf, even sometimes have a rest day.
I was approached by Marie who was interested in working with an athlete like myself. Before meeting her I had never heard of Ortho-Bionomy. We now have been working together for 6 months and there has been a massive improvement. When it comes to my competition week there is a lot of surfing and sometimes stress This is when my back would normally kick in and get uncomfortable.
Marie has slowly been working on getting my muscles to self-correct in my lower back, which releases pain and tension. This results in a quicker recovery period and less pain.
The impact Ortho-Bionomy has had on my surfing has been a huge help. I can surf for longer and when it hits a month when I have a heavy competition schedule having a quicker recovery helps me be able to surf for longer hours, train in-between this and have less to no pain. Being in the water for hours used to be really painful on my lower back, now after months of my body getting to know its own self-corrective reflexes, I don’t feel that pain anymore. It has been a great break through.
